What welding methods and materials are generally used for welding stainless steel and carbon steel on site? What are the specific selection and inspection criteria?
Use A302 welding rod and arc welding.
The welding method is determined by the process; the electrode used is 302
For 20# steel, J427 welding rods and H08Mn2SiA welding wire are generally used; For stainless steel of 0Cr18Ni9 grade, A102 welding rods and H0Cr21Ni10 welding wire are generally used

A302 meets the requirements of GB E309-16, which is equivalent to AWS E309-16. Note: A302 is a Cr23Ni13 stainless steel welding rod with a titanium-calcium type coating; the weld metal it produces possesses excellent crack resistance and oxidation resistance. It can be used for both AC and DC, and has excellent operational performance. Purpose: Used for welding the same type of stainless steel, stainless steel linings, dissimilar steels (such as Cr19Ni9 and low-carbon steel), as well as high-chromium steel, high-manganese steel, etc.
Check Appendix D of GB50236, the Code for Construction and Acceptance of Welding Works for Field Equipment and Industrial Pipelines, regarding the selection of welding materials. If you don’t have it, look for it on forums; it is a standard essential for field installation work.
Use A302 special-shaped steel welding electrodes
It is recommended to use A312 A312 stainless steel welding electrodes, which meet the standards of GB E309Mo-16 and are equivalent to AWS E309Mo-16. Note: A312 refers to Cr23Ni13Mo2 stainless steel welding electrodes with a titanium-calcium flux coating. Due to the high Mo content in the weld, it possesses better corrosion resistance, crack resistance, and oxidation resistance compared to A302. It can be used for both AC and DC, and has excellent operational performance. Purpose: Used for welding stainless steel containers of the same type that are resistant to corrosion by sulfuric acid media (sulfur ammonium); it can also be used for welding stainless steel linings, composite steel plates, and dissimilar steels. Precautions: 1. The electrode must be baked at 200-250°C for 1 hour before welding. 2. Use a DC power supply whenever possible, and the current should not be too high.
