Bosses, our unit is a catalytic cracking unit, a highly isolated facility. It is currently in the shutdown phase. However, for safety reasons, the fire-fighting steam was not turned off, and the boilers remained in operation. I now want to shut down the boiler that’s in operation, so there will be no more fire suppression steam. Is that possible? Are there any measures that can be taken? Of course, for heavy oil and slurry, we will find ways to deal with them. The fear now is that there will be problems with safety. I wonder if any of you guys have any good suggestions?
We want to seal all the other containers with nitrogen to maintain a positive pressure. Then stop the fire steam. How about it? I’ve just started working with catalytic devices and am not very familiar with these operations. Thank you all for your help
Also, my view on the fire-suppression steam for catalytic units is that I always think this device is needed simply to prevent spontaneous combustion. If we seal the entire device, this steam isn’t necessary, after all we are currently in a stopped state with no oil in the system.
Why hasn’t anyone said anything? Is my question too simple? Are everyone afraid of a drop in value?
There are no substances in the system that need to be preheated, nor are there any flammable or explosive materials; therefore, no major accidents are likely to occur. The company does have fire trucks after all. With the current emphasis on energy conservation and emission reduction, it makes sense to shut down operations. I support your opinion!
Shut down for maintenance? How long will it stop? Is the manhole open? . . . The original poster should clarify the question so that others can help you.
