The company needs to build a factory in Xinjiang. For the power cables, I plan to use VV cables. The soil there is saline-alkaline; I’ve heard that galvanized pipes cannot be used in such soil. However, there is a section where the cables need to run across a road, and it’s not possible to use non-galvanized pipes in that area. Do any of you have any good suggestions? Also, is it okay to use VV cables without protective tubes in saline-alkaline soil, or are PE tubes still necessary?
Alkaline soil not only corrodes steel pipes but also damages the insulation covering of cables. I’ve used it a few times; it’s said to be quite good. Both corrosion resistance and strength meet the general requirements. Maybe you’ll even need an underwater cable for this? It is better to use PVC pipes. Cast iron pipes are used for the sections along the route. If direct burial is possible, PVC-reinforced insulated direct-burial cables can be used.
Personally, I think choosing the cable is more important than choosing the protective tube. Currently, many materials can be used as cable protection pipes; for example, cement pipes and various plastic pipes are all suitable.
