It’s a large air compression unit, provided as a turnkey project delivered as a complete package. However, the supplier is extremely irresponsible – not only are the materials used for the process pipelines of poor quality, but the cleaning measures taken during installation are also inadequate. Although they are responsible for any damage to the unit in the future, I still feel very uncomfortable about this. After doing some research, I couldn’t find any relevant standards; their explanations were all quite vague. I ask the experts: are there any strict regulations regarding the cleaning of the compressor inlet and the pipes between different sections? If so, which ones? Thank you: handshake. There are no strict requirements regarding the cleaning of the compressor inlet and the inter-stage pipelines; when formulating the commissioning plan, we require blast cleaning, so that a white cloth placed at the outlet remains clean and there are no black stains resulting from the cleaning process. This section of process piping is not subjected to a hydrostatic test; only a gas-tightness test at operating pressure is carried out.

I haven’t seen any standards for this. The measures we take are to install a filtering mesh at the intake port, and to use lead white oil to test the cleanliness of the gas at the exhaust port. As for pipeline pickling, there should be requirements specified in the design. It’s not necessary for ordinary compressor pipes, right?
The pipes between compressor stages are also difficult to purge due to the connection with coolers; generally, they are cleaned by acid washing followed by drying with dry air, the coolers are cleaned manually, and the pipelines from the inlet to the inlet filter are cleaned manually.
Blasting and purging are sufficient; there’s no need to check it with a white cloth. After pickling, just blow dry the pipeline. :lol
