I am planning to build a small storage area for liquid ammonia, with two storage tanks in total (each with a capacity of 50 cubic meters). I plan to install one unloading dip pipe; the liquid ammonia will be used on-site and not loaded onto vehicles. Should this dip pipe be designed for use at a loading/unloading station? Question: 1. The annex to the \"Shandong Province Safety Technical Specifications for the Storage and Handling of Liquid Ammonia (Trial Version)\」specifies the fire separation distances between liquid ammonia storage tanks, handling stations, and other process equipment as well as tank areas. Since my design includes only one unloading dip pipe, should I determine the fire separation distance based on the handling station? 2. The Building Code specifies only the fire separation distance between loading/unloading hoses and buildings. Is it appropriate to determine the distance for this liquid ammonia unloading hose according to the Building Code? According to this table, a distance of only 14 meters is required between the hose and office buildings (of grade 1 or 2) – is this sufficient? 3. The Petrochemical Regulations do not specify a separate pipe rack; only loading and unloading stations are mentioned. So how is a loading and unloading station defined? Can a pipe rack be considered a loading and unloading station? 4. Is it more appropriate to follow the ‘Building Code’ or the ‘Petroleum and Chemical Industry Code’ for the design of liquid ammonia storage tanks and loading arms? Actually, it’s been discussed many times, but no clear evidence can be found?
It should be considered from the perspective of loading and unloading stations; of course, when the inspection distance is insufficient, it can be explained as a temporary facility.
