General Electric Water & Process Technologies is formed by the merger of three companies: Betz, Osomonics, and Glegg. GE Betz is one of the largest companies in the world for water treatment and industrial process treatment. After nearly a century of development, it has become a specialty chemicals and technical services company that leads the world in terms of scientific research, product development, marketing, technical services, as well as production capacity. In 1940, GE Betz introduced the \"DIANODIC\" cooling water treatment solution; in 1980, the chromium-free corrosion and scale inhibition solution \"DIANODIC II\" was put into use. To this day, GE Betz remains a leader in cooling water treatment technology. Dianodic® PLUS is GE Betz’s latest cooling cycle water treatment technology. This technology includes the patented, highly efficient non-phosphatic carbonate scale inhibitor AEC series, as well as the patented halogen-resistant copper corrosion inhibitor HRA. Dirt deposition is a serious problem that often occurs in circulating cooling systems. It reduces the heat transfer efficiency of the heat exchanger, and can even lead to blockages in the heat exchanger. This increases system resistance, reduces the efficiency of water pumps and cooling towers, raises production energy consumption, and lowers output. In particular, under-scale corrosion can cause the heat exchanger to leak in a short period of time, leading to unplanned shutdowns. Conventional cooling cycle water treatment solutions often use phosphonate-based calcium carbonate scale inhibitors. Organophosphonate inhibitors are prone to decomposition or transformation in the presence of chlorine, which results in their ineffectiveness in inhibiting carbonates. Meanwhile, the inhibitory effect of AEC on calcium carbonate deposition does not decrease in the presence of chlorine at different concentrations. AEC molecules are stable to halogens. When cooling circulating water operates at high concentration ratios, the residence time increases, a phenomenon that is particularly evident in petrochemical enterprises ; At the same time, as salt content increases, the pressure due to scaling and corrosion rises, as does the pressure resulting from microbial corrosion. The Dianodic® PLUS water treatment solution has been formulated specifically for the treatment of cooling cycle water under high concentration conditions. Overall, the Dianodic® PLUS water treatment solution has the following features: it overcomes the limitations of conventional scale inhibitors in preventing carbonate scaling ; Operating at a high concentration ratio saves water and chemicals, thereby reducing production costs ; Its excellent scale and corrosion inhibition properties, along with resistance to halogen oxidation, maximize the safety of system operation and its operational stability ; Operating under alkaline conditions reduces the cost of adding acid or eliminates the need for acid altogether, while also meeting environmental protection requirements ; The antioxidant capacity and stability of AEC&HRA reduce microbial control costs. The use of the Dianodic® PLUS water treatment solution enables good and stable control of the quality of circulating cooling water, improves the heat exchange efficiency of heat exchange equipment, reduces economic losses resulting from system water quality issues, prevents unplanned shutdowns of the plant that could disrupt the normal operation of other systems, and thus extends the service life of the system’s equipment. Practical applications have shown that this water treatment solution is particularly suitable for water with high alkalinity and high hardness, and it brings significant social and economic benefits to the water-scarce regions in the north. In China, the Dianodic® PLUS water treatment solution has successfully treated cooling circulating water with calcium carbonate concentrations as high as 1200–1500 ppm at high concentration ratios.

I competed with Nalco for a project; it is said that their products are phosphorus-free, but the phosphorus content in them is actually quite high, which is somewhat deceptive. But they are an international giant with significant influence, so they can deceive people.
It seems that foreign companies aren’t as strict as they used to be! Many domestic companies or joint ventures are far better (of course, there are many exceptions), but their management experience is still worth learning from!
What are the advantages of the Dianodic® PLUS water treatment solution?
Please search for: “Exploration of the Application of Bedi’s Circulating Water Treatment Technology in Petrochemical Plants” by Cao Cuizhi (Shengli Oilfield Petrochemical Plant, 257061). Abstract: In order to comprehensively improve the quality of circulating water, after investigation and analysis, the Shengli Oilfield Petrochemical Plant adopted the water treatment technology for circulating water systems provided by the American company Bedi in June 2006, taking into account the characteristics of the water quality in the lower reaches of the Huanghe River. This technology is specifically effective for water systems downstream of the Yellow River, where the water is characterized by high salinity, high calcium levels, and high total mineralization. It encompasses various functions for circulating water treatment, such as efficient corrosion inhibition, dispersion, scale prevention, antibacterial and microbial control, as well as stripping and cleaning. Addressing the issues that arose during implementation, a series of improvement measures were taken, resulting in a significant enhancement in the effectiveness of water quality treatment in the circulating water system. Agree with yuxuelinghu’s view; technical precision is necessary. Last edited by masterin on 2009-3-24 23:57.]

I’m not saying that chemical agents are bad, hehe, but I’m sure electrochemical methods are better – they truly contain no phosphorus and can remove scale directly; they work well even with water quality typical of the northern regions!
