The largest and most productive electrolyzers are the three AP50 electrolyzers manufactured by the French company Pechiney; these electrolyzers have a length of 18 meters, an electric current of 500 kA, and a daily aluminum production capacity of 3,825 kilograms. The anode effect is between 0.04 and 0.05 per day. The investment cost for such electrolyzers is 15% higher than that of conventional electrolyzers, yet their production costs are 10% lower. Compared to AP30 electrolyzers of the same volume, the labor productivity per employee increases by 36%. The expected labor productivity of Pechiney’s AP50 electrolyzers is as high as 750 t/yr per worker
