I am a recent graduate and am not sure what knowledge I should acquire. I would appreciate some good suggestions from fellow forum members. Thank you.
1. Safety knowledge. We know that chemical plants are quite dangerous; generally, one needs to go through three levels of safety training before being allowed to enter the plant. We hope the original poster won’t just go through the formality and will study safety seriously, as this will be of great benefit to them in the future! 2. Familiarize yourself with the process flow as soon as possible! 3. Manage your relationships well, especially with the mentor who is guiding you, as that way you can learn a lot. 4. You need to work calmly; don’t think about changing jobs from the start. It’s not too late to do so after you’ve learned something.

Thank you all for your suggestions; it’s been very enlightening. What I do is purification using the Lind process. Previously, it was learned at school*, such as the four major chemistry fields and chemical engineering, etc. Suddenly being in the factory made me feel like I didn’t know anything. At first, I really wanted to back out, thinking it might not be my strength or something I enjoy. But as human beings living in this fast-paced and complex society, it’s not possible to have everything go as one wishes; therefore, I decided to stay and study hard* and work hard. As everyone has said, safety is the top priority for a factory; therefore, there is considerable concern regarding the safety issues in chemical plants. Also, I’m still very nervous when it comes to operating things; for example, I hesitate even when moving valves. So incompetent.
