A brief discussion on the material selection and structural design of methanol synthesis towers from the perspective of the methanol synthesis process
Our 200,000 tons per year methanol production facility using coke oven gas was designed in Chengdu; it features upper and lower towers, and within less than a year both towers started to leak – it’s not clear whether the issue lies with the material used or the design.
It’s still better to choose the plan from a large design institute; it’s much more versatile, whereas a small private enterprise isn’t as reliable in this regard. It’s hard to say
We use a single-tower design; ours has a capacity of 100,000 tons. It features 4,513 tubes, and its external structure is a carbon steel shell-and-tube synthesis tower.
