Which one is more economical? According to experience, when the salt content of the raw water is >500mg/l, it is more economical to use reverse osmosis for desalination operation. Because of the high ion content, the use of ion exchange for acid and alkali consumption is large. But the investment in reverse osmosis is higher than reverse osmosis. Ion exchange takes up more space than reverse osmosis.
