Prins reaction of formaldehyde and olefins

Has anyone ever carried out the Prins reaction, which involves the reaction of alkenes with formaldehyde to produce alcohols? I now want to use propylene and formaldehyde to generate 1,3-butanediol, without obtaining cyclic products. What should be the experimental conditions? Where can I find similar examples? Are there any other methods for producing 1,3-butanediol from propylene? If you know of any, please let me know. Thank you
