The consumption in coal gasification is highly dependent on the type of coal; different coal types require different consumption levels as designed by various patent holders under different process conditions. Moreover, the consumption figures provided by these patent holders are merely reference values, and they can vary depending on the specific coal used, as there are significant differences in the quality of coal from different seams within the same coal mine. I mention this to help the original poster understand that it’s not very useful to rely solely on the consumption data provided by manufacturers operating such systems – it’s necessary to take into account the specific coal used in one’s own project, along with the reference values given by the patent holders. In fact, there are many factors that affect coal consumption; it’s not determined solely by the process used. The type of coal, operating techniques, as well as the composition of the gasifying agent all play a role. The sealing quality of the equipment is also important to consider. Our plant uses a fixed-bed batch gasification method. The coal used is of relatively poor quality; its carbon content is as low as 60%, and its ash fusion point is not high either. The coal consumption is generally between 1.3 and 1.34, which I consider to be quite good!
