This is a very good and important project that benefits the public, but **the tactics employed by the relevant departments are too harsh; the owners of those properties refuse to give up their land at reasonable prices. :L The cities along the eastern coast of Hainan have developed to a certain extent over the past decade or so, and have become highlights in the economic development of the entire province of Hainan. With the development of electricity, light industry, and cities in the Wenchang area, its growing economy is driving progress in various industries. As a result, the natural gas market has matured, and there is a significant shortage of gas supply. According to relevant statistics, by 2006 the demand for natural gas had reached 1.560×108 m3 per year. However, the scarcity of natural gas supply forces the use of less expensive energy sources such as coal and liquefied petroleum gas, which leads to economic waste and has varying degrees of impact on the environment. Therefore, it is highly necessary to provide coastal cities such as Wenchang with efficient and clean energy—natural gas. This post was last edited by laiqi on 2009-3-30 20:45]
As a key tourist destination in Hainan as well as a rocket launch site under construction, Wenchang has high environmental requirements. Natural gas, being an efficient and clean energy source, should be the preferred choice. Moreover, with CNOOC increasing its investments in Hainan, newly developed offshore oil and gas fields such as Ledong 1-1 provide sufficient gas supply for the Haikou-Wenchang gas pipeline project. By 2006, the demand for natural gas had already reached 1.560×108 m3 per year, and this demand is expected to continue rising in the future. The Haikou-Wenchang gas pipeline project will provide adequate resources for the development of Wenchang. It is believed that the future of Wenchang and CNOOC looks bright!
