I would like to ask: for gaskets (metal wound gaskets) used at the inlet and outlet of safety valves, should the inner ring or the outer ring be used? Are the specifications of the metal wound gasket for the inner ring the same as those for the outer ring? I mean, if the flange size is DN50 300LB, the outer ring gasket is DN50 300LB – is the inner ring gasket called the same thing? Thank you! ! !
In practical applications, whether a metal wound gasket uses an inner ring or an outer ring depends on factors such as the properties of the medium (e.g., corrosivity), pressure, operating temperature, and the material of the gasket. Strictly speaking, the specifications and models of internal and external ring metal wound gaskets are different. According to the HG20610-97 standard, the inner-ring type is denoted by B, while the outer-ring type is denoted by C. For specific selection methods, the HG20614-97 standard (\"Specifications for the Selection of Steel Pipe Flanges, Gaskets, and Fasteners\") shall be followed.

Flat flanges cannot use inner rings; inner ring gaskets can only be used on male-and-female flanges. For safety valves, it is best to use wound gaskets with both inner and outer rings.
