Octadecylamine and paraffin were used as anti-caking agents, and a new type of anti-caking agent combining these two substances in different proportions with urease inhibitors and nitrification inhibitors was studied. Its performance in terms of moisture absorption and anti-caking ability was compared with that of commercially available anti-caking agents. The results showed that an appropriate ratio of octadecylamine to paraffin is crucial for anti-caking effects; the added inhibitors have a positive impact on anti-caking performance. The anti-caking agent resulting from experiment No. 6 can address the issue of poor anti-caking effects in high-nitrogen compound fertilizers.
The anti-caking agents that our company has used in recent years don’t seem to be very effective! !
Could LZ provide more details, such as the physicochemical properties of such anti-caking agents, the applications for them, the required setup on site, the dosage, the amount added per unit of fertilizer product, and the cost?
Using a powdered anti-caking agent yields better results
As long as the moisture content of the finished product is kept below 1% and the temperature is below 40°C. A small amount of anti-caking agent can be used, or it can be omitted altogether.
The formula composed of the two ingredients mentioned by the poster is only suitable for low-nitrogen urea-based compound fertilizers, and not for high-nitrogen compound fertilizers (with a nitrogen content of more than 20-25%); this formula is already outdated.
Currently, powdered anti-caking agents are commonly used; they are easy to apply, cause no pollution, are inexpensive, and offer more stable performance compared to coated oils.
The key to preventing caking lies in the moisture and temperature of the material; anti-caking agents can only play a supplementary role, and an appropriate amount of dusting also provides excellent anti-caking effects
It’s better to add a paste-like substance – not only does it prevent caking, but it also serves to polish, lubricate, and prevent powdering. Controlling moisture, humidity, and cooling temperature is crucial. Although everyone is aware of these two key points, it’s not easy to maintain them during actual production, especially in summer when cooling often fails to meet the requirements. Additionally, in areas with high air humidity in the south – particularly those where factories are located near rivers, lakes, etc. – how can humidity be controlled? In such cases, it’s necessary to use anti-caking agents, and the difference they bring is quite noticeable
In addition to using anti-caking agents, it is important to reduce the temperature and humidity in the packaging, especially during summer
Hubei Fubang, formerly known as “Kao,” has an excellent anti-curling effect.
