The feed temperature to the stabilizer is indeed not controlled during design or operation, but I believe there is a theoretical upper limit for it. Based on material balance and heat balance, the amount of stabilized gasoline is less than the amount of feed to the stabilizer; in other words, the maximum temperature of the stabilizer feed cannot be higher than the temperature of the stabilizer bottom product. I think this is not difficult to understand; moreover, the heat load of the stabilizer is supplied by a reboiler at the bottom of the tower, and the gas-phase load within the tower is determined by that reboiler. The feed temperature is indeed determined by the heat exchange temperature of the stabilized gasoline.
The feed temperature is generally not controlled; as much heat as possible is transferred, which helps to reduce the load on the stabilized gasoline cooler and the reboiler at the bottom of the stabilizer. However, an excessively high feed temperature will increase the amount of heavier components in the gas phase in the feed section, thereby increasing the load on the tower top and potentially resulting in substandard product at the tower top. The stabilizer tower is equipped with three feed inlets, and it is possible to choose the appropriate inlet depending on the specific circumstances; a lower feed inlet can be used when a high temperature is present.

The higher the heating, the more stabilized gasoline can be produced from the stabilizer bottom. Of course, if you don’t need such a high value, you can also have the heat exchanger go through a bypass line. But overall, the stable heat you absorb still comes from distillation, and all the heat for distillation is provided by the heating furnace. If you fail to make use of this available heat, the load on the heating furnace will definitely increase accordingly!
