During the primary processing of crude oil, efforts are made to increase the crude oil extraction rate; Secondary processing includes catalytic reforming, catalytic cracking, oil refining, etc., all of which are intended to ensure quality ; Make comprehensive use of refinery off-gases, minimize flaring, and fully recycle these gases.
At present, Zhoushan Hobang Company is using high-pressure hydrogenation of fuel oil, and this approach has been very successful. It shows that by utilizing the existing industrial processes such as atmospheric and vacuum distillation, residue hydrogenation, catalysis, hydrocracking, continuous reforming, hydrogenation of jet fuel and diesel, as well as gas recovery from flare systems, combined with fuel oil hydrogenation, it is possible to make full use of all components of the oil.
It depends on what goal you want to achieve; if you want to end things quickly, then use a short process with minimal processing.
Why doesn’t HaiChuan have any capable people anymore? I think this is also an approach and solution that petrochemical companies should consider for this issue!

Let me share some humble opinions. The principle is short processes, deep processing, and the production of special products. More specifically, try not to produce gasoline and diesel. Using carbon tiers 3 and 4 compounds, aromatics, and lubricant base oils as intermediate products, downstream products are developed. Aim for less but better, unique yet comprehensive.
Starting with oil and ending with products derived from it – this is the inevitable path for chemical enterprises that use petroleum as raw material. . . Entering the chemical industry from the oil sector means starting with gas-based products. . . . Cracking is a turning point in oil upgrading, but the CPP process, which is currently promising for heavy oil cracking, is not yet mature. . .
