Bayer MaterialScience announces success with “pure wet-coating”

According to China Paint Network, Bayer MaterialScience announced recently that, after more than 3 years of Taber abrasion \"car washing tests\", it was successful in applying a pure wet-coating to the BayVision polycarbonate used in cars; this pure wet-coating is more wear-resistant than plasma coatings. Thanks to the application of the AS4000 pure wet-coating produced by Metu High-Tech Materials Group, the mass-produced polycarbonate glass sheets successfully passed the Taber abrasion test. This wear resistance test can determine the wear resistance of plastic or glass windows. Tests have shown that pure polysiloxane wet coatings exhibit greater wear resistance than plasma-coated ones; even after 100 washes, there is no significant wear. Pure polysiloxane coatings provide excellent wear resistance when used on polycarbonate car windows. To verify the validity of the test results, Bayer MaterialScience conducted research on old polycarbonate glass coated with pure wet-coating materials in mass-produced vehicles. Studies show that even after 6 years of use, the wear rate of the transparent parts does not exceed 1%.
