In China, the two-step method is used: vapor-phase dehydration and liquid-phase dehydration. The vapor-phase dehydration method is relatively better and is also the most widely used at present; the liquid-phase dehydration method (using sulfuric acid) is only employed by one company. During the experimentation with the one-step method, and based on future development trends, this approach represents a better option for the DME process.
