Does a structured packing tower require a discharge port? The packing is P-125 ii. According to the drawings, in a packing tower with a diameter of more than 4 meters, a discharge port is provided at the lower part of the packing layer; it seems that regular packing cannot be removed from there. Regular packing is rarely replaced; if replacement is necessary, it is done by shutting down the system, and there is no need for a discharge port.
Regular packing is of course removed and installed through the manhole, while bulk packing (such as Pall rings, saddle rings, etc.) is equipped with discharge ports to facilitate unloading
