I would like to ask the experienced experts here: is it feasible to use the acidic water obtained after hydrogen production via vapor stripping directly as the feed water for a low-pressure steam generator operating at 10 kg/cm2?
Analyzing the pH value, and adding a filter should be fine!
In theory, it’s possible, but after acid vapor stripping for hydrogen production at the Maoming hydrogen production plant, water analysis shows that the iron ion level is too high, so the water cannot be used. If you need it, have it tested to see whether it meets the specifications for deionized water. Yes, it’s possible. Our water goes through stripping before entering the deaerator; the deoxygenated water has a pH level between 7 and 8, and it has been reused for over a year!
The iron ion and silicon content, as well as the conductivity of the acidic water used for hydrogen production, are not up to standard for use as boiler water. Corrosion and scaling have occurred in many boilers, and steam has caused scaling on the turbine rotors; therefore, it is not recommended to use this water in boilers. It is possible to use specialized corrosion inhibitors before feeding this water into the hydrogenation unit, which helps to save steam used for stripping processes and reduces corrosion in the hydrogenation unit. It’s best not to go into the boiler! Problems have occurred with the boilers at Jingbo Petrochemical and Hengyuan Petrochemical. Most of Sinopec’s units no longer feed into boilers.
