Our company plans to install a wax oil hydrogenation and catalytic unit; could you please inform us of the requirements that the catalytic unit has regarding the specifications of the raw wax oil? Why?

Combining wax oil hydrogenation with catalysis should be a good option. The main indicators include residual carbon, group composition, and heavy metal sulfur content. The residual carbon content should generally not exceed 10; the lower, the better. In terms of the composition of the hydrocarbons, a higher proportion of alkanes is desirable, with a value above 55 being optimal. The total amount of heavy metals should not exceed 200. After hydrogenation of the wax oil, its quality improves significantly, and it may be possible to blend it with conventional residue or reduced-residue oil.
Paraffin oil does not have the heavy aromatics, resins, and asphalts found in residue oil. However, it also requires routine analysis of boiling range, density, K value, sulfur, nitrogen, oxygen contents, and heavy metals.
