For the black water sedimentation tank used in the coal water slurry gas generation process, is it better to have an open design or a closed design similar to that of a tank? ? ? Why?
Personal opinion: The black water sedimentation tank does not require a cover for the equipment. Since the black water is at a certain temperature, steam continuously emanates from it when viewed from the outside. If a cover is added, and given the large diameter of this equipment, it would be necessary to use a platform to lift the cover, which is quite troublesome.
A cover is added to maintain liquid flow using low-pressure nitrogen; this is said to prevent oxygen from dissolving in the black water. However, I think: 1. Oxygen is already poorly soluble in water, let alone in black water at nearly 80°C? 2. It is not conducive to maintenance; during maintenance, part of the cover must be removed (usually there are pre-existing openings), and air needs to be allowed to flow through for some time: a hassle! 3. In the event of an accident such as a failure of the material raking machine, bottom slag discharge can only be carried out when the machine is not in operation, which affects the stable operation of the system. If there is no cover on top, manual temporary dredging can be used (some manufacturers employ this method).
It’s great to have it open; it makes it easy to see the condition of the mixer and the turbidity caused by sedimentation. This is very beneficial, and it’s also good for the pump.
For practical reasons, an open design is of course better, but once it’s open, some people won’t like it, hehe
I also agree that having an open design has advantages, as everyone has mentioned above. But it also comes with disadvantages such as oxygen corrosion, environmental pollution, and the falling in of foreign objects, among others
1. Reducing the oxygen content in water in a well-sealed system works, but it comes at a high cost. The leader doesn’t agree, haha. 2. The cost of regular operation is low, but the oxygen content in the water is high; the deoxygenation effect achieved by using a deoxygenator isn’t good enough.
