During the maintenance of the porcelain insulators in the electrostatic tar catcher, self-igniting materials were found at the inspection holes, which ignited upon contact with air. Does anyone know what the components of self-igniting substances are? (Note: The electrostatic tar catcher has been subjected to prolonged steam purging, and blind flanges have been installed on its inlet and outlet valves.)
Air enters after the bottom manhole cover is opened. There is iron sulfide inside the container, and the temperature inside the insulated box reaches 80–85 degrees Celsius. Under these conditions, iron sulfide catches fire spontaneously when exposed to air (sparks appearing around the asbestos gasket are evidence of the spontaneous ignition of iron sulfide), thus becoming a source of fire.
The situation described on the second floor matches what’s at the site; if it’s iron sulfide, thank you to the person on the second floor! If the electric precipitator is maintained, it is very likely to cause a fire.
A similar situation has also occurred in our factory; it turns out that iron sulfide was to blame. I would like to ask the person on the second floor: how can this be avoided?

What was said on the 5th floor is correct – thorough cleaning is necessary, but it can be difficult to clean the inside of pipes completely; however, maintaining an appropriate amount of steam flow can help.
