By observing instruments to learn things that cannot be learned from textbooks, collecting data on-site, and using theoretical design calculations to see whether they match the actual operating conditions on site, one can best assess the extent to which theory and practice are combined.
I have some extra advice for you: pay attention to every aspect of your workplace, and especially build good relationships with the supervisors in your department. True Kung Fu seems difficult to learn at first glance. I know a friend who said this: when playing cards with experienced players, he would lose his monthly salary in just one day, and that’s how he explained it to his father.
