How to choose a motor correctly

1. Select the motor based on the power supply voltage, operating conditions, and the load to be driven. The power supply voltage should match the motor’s rated voltage.2. Choose different types of motors depending on the installation location and working environment.
3. Select the motor based on capacity, efficiency, power factor, and speed. If the capacity chosen is too small, long-term overload will occur, affecting the motor’s lifespan or even causing it to burn out. If the capacity chosen is too large, the motor’s output mechanical power cannot be fully utilized, and the power factor will also be low. This is because the motor’s power factor and efficiency change with the load.
4. When the motor operates under a constant load, the power calculation formula is as follows:

Where:
P – Power of the motor (KW);
P1 – Power of the production machinery (KW);
η1 – Efficiency of the production machinery itself;
η – Efficiency of the motor.
The power calculated using this formula may not exactly correspond to the specifications required by the product. Therefore, the rated power (P1) of the motor selected should be equal to or slightly greater than the calculated power.
