1. Low-temperature wet H2S corrosion: The corrosion of H2S pipelines and dehydration tanks falls into this category. The acidic gas coming from the desulfurization unit contains a small amount of water vapor; in low-temperature areas, this water vapor condenses into water. Since H2S is highly soluble in water to form hydrosulfuric acid, wet hydrogen sulfide corrosion occurs as a result. 2. Corrosion by acidic condensate: The device contains corrosive substances such as sulfur, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, and sulfur trioxide, as well as water vapor. These media form acidic condensates below the dew point. The trap manhole cover and the upper part of the chimney are areas severely corroded by acidic condensate. 3. High-temperature sulfur corrosion: The furnace gas contains two oxidizing agents, oxygen and sulfur. They undergo an oxidation reaction with metals. Although only oxides are formed in the early stages of the reaction, due to the strong corrosivity of S, it diffuses into the initial oxides, leading to the formation of sulfides within the oxides, at the metal/oxide interface, and within the metal matrix; therefore, sulfidation of monoxides is the main form of corrosion in sulfur-containing mixed atmospheres.
