Our compressor’s circulating oil system uses 68# oil. Sometimes, after refilling the oil, its color becomes cloudy and milky yellow. I’m not sure what causes this. Anyone who has knowledge in this area, please explain it to me. Thank you.
This situation usually occurs when water gets into the oil circuit. Please check the cylinder cooling water pipes or the oil cooling water pipes carefully.
Internal leakage in the oil cooler allows water to enter the oil circuit, or oil and water that have been leaking for an extended period can enter the oil circuit at the gasket area. The weather is cold, so the oil heating temperature is too high.
After more than ten hours, everything is normal. I hope we can have further discussions on this; it’s not an issue of water entering and causing emulsification
Is it because the oil cooler does not provide adequate cooling, resulting in carbonization reactions when the oil temperature becomes too high? Our factory has also encountered similar situations in the past; after the cooler was modified and its cooling efficiency improved, the situation improved.
The issue of high oil temperature should be taken into consideration; high temperatures cause the viscosity of the oil to decrease, and the quality of the oil deteriorates, turning it milky yellow. The performance of the oil cooler has declined.
Oil emulsification is a definite phenomenon, and there are various reasons for it. Regarding compressors specifically, the following factors could be responsible: 1. Quality issues with the oil itself. 2. Incomplete tank cleaning 3. Delayed oil drainage 4. Cooling system leakage
