What is the difference between butt-welded elbows and flat-welded elbows? Are there any specific regulations? Thank you
There must be a difference; butt welding and surfacing welding are two different welding methods. Butt welding is a type of resistance welding method in which two workpieces are welded together simultaneously along their entire end faces using resistive heat. Flat welding is one of the welding methods used by welders; in this method, the welding wire (electrode) is positioned downward while the welding area remains horizontal. I’m not quite clear about the difference between butt-welded elbows and socket-welded elbows; I hope those who are experienced in welding can give me some guidance.
It is estimated that the “flat weld elbow” mentioned by the poster refers to a socket weld elbow, which is suitable for smaller pipe diameters.
