I have a question: Why do some instruments require heating while others do not? What kind of instruments are they? What’s the difference?
The process pressure guide tube and the instrument housing require heating in the following situations: 1. When the process medium condenses at ambient temperature. 2 Prevent blockage of the pressure guiding tube and the instrument’s measurement chamber due to the viscous properties of the medium. 3 Avoid condensation of the medium at ambient temperature. 4 All outdoor instruments and pressure transfer pipelines shall be equipped with anti-freezing measures to accommodate low-temperature conditions. Electric heating, as well as hot water or steam heating, can be considered as methods to prevent freezing.
Generally, instrument pipelines need insulation: this is to prevent water from freezing and damaging the instruments, so insulation and heating are required; Insulation of the instrument itself: For example, in the case of rotameters, if the medium would solidify at the ambient temperature, insulation is necessary to prevent solidification due to heat loss.
In winter, when temperatures are low and the medium may condense, heating is required.
Whether heating is required for the pressure tapping pipelines of instruments is determined by the properties of the medium and the ambient temperature; it generally has nothing to do with the instrument itself
