May I ask, what is the working principle of a differential pressure level gauge? Compared to a float tank, which method provides more accurate measurements? Thank you!!
I’ve never heard of a sunk cylinder; I’m only familiar with floating cylinders. If it’s a floating cylinder, its accuracy is definitely higher than that of a differential pressure transmitter, but floating cylinders are very expensive.
The working principle of a differential pressure level gauge is to measure the liquid level by detecting the pressure difference between the upper and lower surfaces of the liquid. Since the specific gravity of the liquid remains constant, this pressure difference changes linearly as the liquid level varies, which enables the measurement of that pressure difference. On the other hand, a float level gauge measures the liquid level based on the depth to which its float sinks into the liquid. Currently, the accuracy of these two types of gauges is roughly the same; strictly speaking, the differential pressure type has higher accuracy. The accuracy of the float type is greatly influenced by external factors, such as fluctuations in the vapor pressure above the liquid surface in the container, which directly affect the accuracy of the float
The principle of a differential pressure level gauge is to use differential pressure to measure the liquid level; however, when the liquid surface fluctuates, this affects both types of levels. Therefore, differential pressure level gauges usually come equipped with a buffer tank.
