We used Tyco’s two-position cylinder valves (ball valves), which are intended for emergency shut-off. However, we’re unable to fully close them – they can only be closed partially. Eventually, we took the entire valve apart and found that there was a jam between the shaft that operates the ball valve and the cover that holds the valve in place; the inner surface of this part had been worn out badly. Are there any other situations that could cause the valve to get stuck? Do we have to take the valve apart completely every time in order to conduct an analysis? . .
This is a problem with the quality of the valve itself, not with the ball valve. Additionally, the large contact area between the ball valve’s core and the seat leads to high friction, which may cause jamming. But if the valve is of good quality, there will be no problems.
Impurities in the medium, such as scale in pipes, can cause wear on components like valve cores. A blasting and purging process can be carried out to remove these impurities from the pipes, after which the situation can be assessed again. Please feel free to point out any mistakes
There are many reasons why it can’t be shut off: insufficient pressure in the air supply, impurities in the medium, foreign objects inside the cylinder – anything is possible. Apart from the air supply pressure, how can one know the cause without taking things apart?
A loose piston, a loose connection of the valve stem, or a bent valve stem can all cause the valve to get stuck. Judgment: Check for leaks at the air source, cylinders, or diaphragm, whether the air source pressure has dropped, and whether the valve stem is bent. If none of these issues are present, it can be inferred that something is stuck inside; to determine exactly what is stuck, the component needs to be disassembled and inspected.
There are many reasons why it can’t be closed properly: insufficient air pressure, impurities in the medium, foreign objects inside the cylinder, or the ball-shaped shut-off valve holding the ball in place and preventing it from closing. In such cases, you need to adjust the screw in the middle – that will help
Everyone’s ideas are good. First, check whether it’s a problem with the actuator, then see if it’s an issue with the valve itself, and after that decide which part needs to be disassembled; that might work better
I analyze it from four aspects: 1. The pressure of the air supply decreases. 2. Water gets into the pneumatic actuator (water is present in the air supply and has not been properly filtered). 3. Debris blocks inside the valve body (there are relatively large particles). 4. The shaft of the valve body gets stuck at some point during rotation. QQ: 928976489 :) :)
