Can technology become a company’s core competitive advantage? Many companies today consider their technological capabilities to be their core strength; sometimes they keep certain parameters secret during consultations. How can such companies promote their products then? Others can only consider using those products after they have first learned about them. In my opinion, technology should be kept confidential, but it shouldn’t be regarded as the core competitive advantage of a company, because technologies become obsolete over time. If you treat technology as something precious, it may hinder its promotion, and when that technology becomes outdated, you will end up with nothing. As time passes, the value of technology also decreases. Therefore, I believe that technology should be kept confidential, but publicity is still necessary – one shouldn’t be too cautious. I’d like to hear everyone’s opinions on how to balance confidentiality and promotion. What should be the core competitive advantages of high-tech companies?
The core competitiveness of high-tech enterprises should be: a spirit of unity, communication, and positivity among the team, as well as a high-quality workforce.
I don’t quite agree with the original poster’s view; technology can certainly become a core competitive advantage for a company over a certain period of time – if you have something that others don’t, you can achieve a monopoly! Don’t view monopolies as something entirely negative; if Gates hadn’t pursued technological monopolies, Microsoft wouldn’t have become so successful. Besides, technology is not a company’s core competitive advantage – then what’s the use of patents?
Technology is the core of a company for a certain period of time, but it is never the most essential element. Because information is now symmetric, there can be no long-term monopoly; moreover, every technology requires market promotion – without such people to promote it, the technology will remain undiscovered forever
…………For this issue, at all times, as a \"high-tech company,\" technology is its core competitive advantage! The key to a company’s continuity lies not only in possessing the most advanced technologies available, but also in continuing technological development and in nurturing and developing its talent pool! As for companies keeping certain technical details secret from their customers, I think it’s inevitable – after putting in a lot of effort and time to find a way forward, anyone would want to keep that knowledge to themselves. Moreover, domestic companies have such strong capabilities in imitation; once they manage to replicate something, the cost involved is much lower compared to that of the original developers, leaving those developers unable to compete with them in the short term!
