Is automatic sampling for gas chromatography good?
Automatic sampling in gas chromatography is great, as it reduces human error by at least one factor.
It’s very good; as long as you purchase products from legitimate manufacturers that meet quality standards, those imported ones are even better, as they offer excellent consistency when used for creating samples.
Of course, it’s great – the reproducibility of sample injection is much better than with manual injection, and the precision of the analysis results is excellent. It helps to minimize errors caused by different people performing sampling tasks. Disadvantages: 1. The initial investment is relatively high. 2. It requires higher levels of maintenance and repair. 3. Proper maintenance of the automatic sampling needles is essential; otherwise, it can be very costly

Yes, the initial investment is high, but compared to labor costs, it offers better repeatability. The most important thing is that sometimes instability at the site can lead to claims that the analysis isn’t accurate; now everything is automated, so we just hire whoever can do the job.:lol
For automatic sampling as well, the sample must first be prepared manually; in all sampling methods, operators need to be familiar with the characteristics of the sample being analyzed, and there are still relevant factors to consider. If controlling intermediates is deemed unnecessary, there is no need to spend a large amount of money on imported automatic sampling instruments.

Our gas chromatograph previously used injection needles, that is, micro-injectors – 100-microliter syringes; we used a dozen of them per day. The injection error was high. Later, we switched to a ten-port valve for injection, which improved accuracy. However, it took longer for the peaks to appear: 2 minutes with needles, and 6 minutes with the ten-port valve
