Proteins can only be said to be polymers, not polymer materials. . . Polymer materials refer to rubber, plastics, fibers, coatings, adhesives and polymer-based composite materials. :D
It should only be polymers, right? Proteins are not polymerized, so they are not polymer materials. Although polymer materials are called polymers, they generally refer to industrially synthesized materials, excluding natural ones. Although natural rubber is not synthetic, it requires post-processing, so it is a polymer material. Although protein has a high molecular weight, it is mainly used as food and feed, so it is not a polymer material.
Now some people distinguish between polymers and macromolecules, but there is no clear definition.
