Attention, moderators and group members: I have been part of this group for some time and have also made donations to the forum. I have a question I’d like to ask, and I hope you can help answer it. I would like to know in which areas of the petroleum industry plate and frame filter presses can be used. Could you please provide details? Thank you! Wishing you all the best! To Seiwa, with respect
In the field of oil refining, the lubricant refining systems and wastewater treatment systems are equipped with plate and frame filters!
Thank you to the brother upstairs for answering the question. I’m familiar with filter presses used for wastewater treatment. What else is there in oil refining besides lubricants?
Refining of white clay, refining of transformer oil
The compressor supporting equipment for the first set of domestic reforming units will also be used!
It can be used in many places as needed, mainly due to its good filtering performance. However, it has issues such as a complex structure, large space requirements, difficulty in replacing filter paper or filters, high leakage rates, and significant volatilization losses. It is particularly unsuitable for use with light oils that have a low flash point. Currently, with the continuous improvement of filters, many of them can now achieve results comparable to those of plate and frame filters, as a result of which plate and frame filters are used much less frequently these days. Our facility previously used plate and frame filters to address the issue of carbon particles in essential oils, and the results were good; however, it was too cumbersome and costly. Now we use specialized military oil filters produced by the General Logistics Department of the People’s Liberation Army, which yield equally good results.
Regarding leakage and volatilization, the following solutions are now available. 1. Install a sealing strip on the sealing surface of the filter plate. 2. The filter plate is not covered with a lid or seal, and the filter cloth is embedded within the filter plate.
