Safety issues during the loading of calcium carbide slag

In dry acetylene plants, calcium carbide slag is packed in bulk with cement packaging machines and loaded into cement tank trucks for delivery to various end-user facilities. During the loading process, since rotary blowers are required to be used for blowing in the case of cement in bulk packaging, there may be safety issues associated with using air for blowing calcium carbide slag (acetylene gas might be present in the calcium carbide slag). Calcium carbide slag is preferably transported using a screw conveyor.
