I think this is very difficult. The maintenance of sulfur recovery units is crucial and cannot be taken lightly; before starting up, every pipeline and piece of equipment must be cleaned thoroughly, especially the condensers, sulfur seal tanks, and liquid sulfur pipelines. If this is not done properly, you will have to stop operations again shortly after acidic gases start flowing in.
It’s difficult to handle; as long as the resistance increase is not significant and it doesn’t affect operation, it’s not a big problem – it’s just that the quality of sulfur is poor. There’s a chance to replace a section of the catalyst, and it’s not that expensive.
I agree with the person above; as long as the pressure drop isn’t too significant, these carbon deposits will be gradually carried away by the process gas once operations resume. However, if the pressure drop is high enough to affect the normal operation of the device, then it is necessary to consider replacing the catalyst at the very top of the reactor (commonly known as the skimming head).
When heating up at startup or shutting down for gas desulfurization, some steam should be introduced into the acidic gas combustion furnace to prevent carbon buildup due to insufficient air supply.
Carbon buildup should be dealt with during maintenance; it cannot be removed while the machine is in operation. The earliest methods involved using burning to deal with carbon buildup, but this approach carried significant risks, so it is no longer used today
Appropriately increase the bed temperature and enhance sewage discharge. If necessary, suspend operations temporarily to open the converter manhole and stir the catalyst.
