During the installation of the lining in tubular furnaces in refineries, I heard that Y-shaped nails are necessary for the furnace roof lining – what is the reason for this? If my lining has a castable structure, is a Y-pin still necessary? What about a composite lining?
There are Y-shaped and V-shaped nails, which are mainly used to prevent the furnace wall from collapsing during operation with insulation in place; the lining is of a castable structure, and the quality of this structure is quite evident.
Generally, V-shaped insulation nails are used for single-layer refractory linings, while Y-shaped insulation nails are used for double-layer ones.
If the lining is too thick, a Y-shaped one is better!
When the heat-resistant and wear-resistant lining of industrial furnaces adopts a castable structure, \"anchors\" become necessary, as the castable lining inside the furnace relies on these anchors to bear its own weight as well as other impact loads. The structure and thickness of the lining vary significantly depending on factors such as furnace temperature, the wall temperature designed for the casing, and other considerations; therefore, the type of anchoring elements also needs to be determined based on these various factors. The structural forms of anchors include “Y-type” and “V-type”, etc. For linings that are thicker, a “Y-type” or other types are generally used, while “V-type” anchors can be employed for thinner linings.
