When a mass is attached to a spring and then released, the mass-spring system vibrates at its natural frequency. It is known that it reaches rest due to facial damping. By applying a driving force to the mass to overcome damping, resonance can be maintained. When the density of the product being measured changes, the vibrating mass in the density sensor also changes, and this can be detected through a change in the resonant frequency. For slurry or any type of pulp density meter, the best choice is a Coriolis mass flow meter, which offers high measurement stability and precision. However, attention should be paid to the issue of wear; the following solutions are recommended: 1. Install it on a bypass pipe as much as possible, and place a control valve downstream of the instrument to keep the flow rate below 3 m/s, thereby reducing wear. 2. Use a mass flow meter with straight tubes (preferably a single straight tube), as it has no flow-blocking elements or bends inside, which reduces the risk of wear (such products are available from Kolon). 3. Install a protective ring at the instrument’s inlet; this helps to protect the density meter itself from wear. In many power plant desulfurization applications, density meters using these solutions can operate stably and accurately for over 5 years
