Decision-making for projects in the domestic market is slow, but once a project is launched, the design and construction processes proceed very quickly. Owners often urge design institutes to speed up the production of drawings, but domestic projects share one common feature: the time when the project goes into operation is usually also the time when technical upgrades are carried out! There are various reasons for the above situation: in China, when carrying out projects, attention is given to investment, and insufficient emphasis is placed on the long-term performance of equipment; an acceleration in the design process leads to a decline in design quality. Compared to domestic projects, the pace of project execution abroad is usually much slower, and the design process is also slower. I completely agree with the opinion above. In the past, it took several months or even half a year to design a project, and another half a year for installation; now, the total time required for design and installation is about half a year at most, with longer times needed in northern regions due to the permafrost. Although time is money, quality is what truly matters!
This is probably because those in charge of design don’t understand current actual production processes and simply copy from the design manuals!
I agree with the original poster’s view; the key issue is companies’ desire for quick success and instant benefits, along with their lack of long-term planning for development. Either they don’t enter a particular field at all, or if they do, they do so in a hasty manner, which really troubles us who work in technology
Today’s project owners are very demanding; they insist on starting operations within just one year, without considering what is scientifically sound or reasonable. There is no proper design process, and leaders’ one-sided focus on achieving results leads to trying to start operations on an auspicious day. This inevitably results in mistakes in the design, which in turn may cause delays, forcing further corrections later on. Encountering such things too often is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and wastes money. Foreigners spend several years on a project, taking all kinds of details into careful consideration, which of course results in a higher accuracy rate. Now, foreign suppliers are quite surprised by the requirements regarding the manufacturing timeline for orders placed in China, and they can’t adapt to them. But the client has no choice but to work with these foreigners, as they stick strictly to their own schedule; therefore, there’s nothing left but to urge the domestic design institute to speed things up!
Projects designed domestically are not necessarily in the phase of technical upgrades at the time of implementation, and projects carried out abroad are not necessarily free from problems. Nothing is that absolute.
