For the waste boilers and sulfur condensers in recycling units, apart from using deoxygenated water as a cooling medium, has anyone ever used organic solutions such as ethylene glycol aqueous solutions as heat carriers? What are the lessons learned in terms of system corrosion prevention?
It’s absolutely not allowed. In addition to its cooling function, deoxygenated water generates steam by recovering heat, which is then used as heating steam for the equipment.
We have used a 50% ethylene glycol aqueous solution as the heat carrier. The temperature of the heat carrier in the waste boiler of the recovery unit and in the earlier sulfur condensers is 149 degrees, mainly to prevent sulfur from solidifying; the temperature of the heat carrier in the final sulfur condenser is 127 degrees, to prevent sulfur mist from being carried in the recovered exhaust gas.
Wouldn’t it be better to use deoxygenated water as the cooling medium? It provides cooling effects, and the steam generated can be used as a heat source for jacket heating, the reboiler at the bottom of the regeneration tower, etc. The steam condensate, after being deoxygenated, can be used to generate more steam. . . . . . Sustainable development – how wonderful that is
