I have a question for the experts here: on what kind of equipment is it necessary to design a ground plane? If the equipment is hung from a floor slab or steel frame, the bracket is already in contact with the ground, so why is it necessary to install a bonding ground plate? Also, HG20583 mentions that the materials for the ground plate should be galvanized steel or stainless steel; but what type of steel is used for galvanizing in the case of galvanized steel?
Most steel pressure vessels are equipped with grounding plates.
Generally, individual equipment requires the installation of grounding electrodes. Some equipment is installed on steel structures; although the supports are in contact with the ground, they are not connected to the main grounding circuit, so separate grounding electrodes must be provided. The material used for ground plates is usually galvanized flat iron, such as —25X4; stainless steel is rarely used. Galvanized flat iron is typically made by galvanizing A3 (Q235A) steel.

That’s how I understand it: grounding is necessary, but the fact that a device is connected to the floor or some other grounding element does not mean it is connected to the grounding electrode buried underground. Typically, a dedicated grounding wire is used to connect the device to the ground, so as to ensure that the grounding resistance remains within acceptable limits – generally not more than 4 ohms. In special cases, it may be possible to connect the device to steel plates or other conductive surfaces, but this must be done through proper welding. Galvanized steel is usually used for this purpose; galvanizing is intended to improve electrical conductivity. Fiberglass, on the other hand, does not conduct electricity and therefore does not require grounding

Both galvanized steel sheets and stainless steel have rust-resistant properties. Special grounding plates are designed and installed to ensure grounding reliability.
They are basically all available; otherwise, the lightning protection inspection and approval cannot be passed, as the meteorological agency is responsible for this. The equipment on the second floor also needs to be grounded, and the grounding electrode can be buried underground on the first floor. The material is probably carbon steel; it would be a waste if it were any better.

Equipment that handles flammable and explosive materials must be equipped with grounding plates; the process engineering department requires grounding plates for any equipment that needs static electricity grounding, with the aim of directing the static electricity from the equipment into the ground and eliminating potential safety hazards.
