Our factory has a 10T gas steam boiler, but it cannot operate due to the lack of gas. I would like to ask those with more experience what modifications can be made to get it working again (Note: Please suggest the most cost-effective option among electric heating, fuel burning, or gas generator systems)
Nozzle modification. Change it to a hybrid oil and gas combustion system.
Modify the burner and add a fuel system (including an ignition oil system and a fuel oil system), a compressed air atomization system, a steam atomization system, as well as corresponding electrical and automatic control instrumentation systems
The most direct method is to modify the burner so that it can be used with both oil and gas; in the absence of gas, oil (diesel or heavy oil) can be used instead
Switch to a dual-fuel burner that uses both gas and fuel; light diesel is too expensive, so it’s better to use heavier oils or other lower-quality fuels; Natural gas is also a bit expensive.
Both fuel oil and coal cause significant pollution and require corresponding supporting facilities; using rice husks as a substitute would be much better, as only a dust tower at the spraying point is needed
It seems more feasible to switch from a gas boiler to a fuel oil boiler; just replacing it with a fuel oil burner will do. It will not have a significant impact on the boiler’s evaporation rate and key parameters. If it’s changed to “Enya Shell,” it won’t be that simple.
The operating costs of electric heating are likely to be the highest, so it is generally not recommended. If the gas supply is only intermittent, meaning it will be restored soon, it is advisable to switch to a burner that uses a mixture of gas and oil. Use gas when it is available, and heavy oil or diesel when there is no gas (heavy oil is cheaper than diesel, but an additional heavy oil heating system is required). If natural gas is available, it can also be considered as an option. Liquefied gas or LNG can also be used. Another option is to install a gas generator to produce gas on-site for use in boilers, although this requires significant investment and involves many modifications. Each of these methods has its advantages and disadvantages, and the choice should be based on the actual needs of your factory. First, determine whether each solution is feasible. Second, consider whether it is convenient to obtain various types of energy at the location of your factory, as well as their prices. Third, assess the investment and operating costs associated with each solution. Fourth, make a decision after considering all these factors.
First: an electric boiler is not needed. The structure and control of electric boilers differ from those of oil and gas boilers. Moreover, as for 10-ton electric boilers, it’s unclear which manufacturers would be able to afford them. Second: Coal stoves, wood-burning stoves, or similar options are also best avoided; they require extensive work, and the results after modification are not satisfactory, making them uneconomical. Second: If gas is expected to arrive in the near future, you can consider a burner that works with both gas and oil, and it’s better to use light oil. For dual use of heavy oil and natural gas, the modifications required to your system are relatively significant, not just limited to preheating. If you plan to use fuel over the long term, then heavy oil is of course more cost-effective. For reference.
