The resistance of the wire mesh demister in the drying tower of sulfuric acid production units generally does not rise to 10 kPa. It is estimated that during the start-up and shutdown of the unit, the sulfur injection valve was not closed in time; as a result, liquid sulfur in the higher pipes entered the furnace and turned into sulfur vapor, which then condensed in the wire mesh demister of the drying tower to form solid sulfur, thereby causing an increase in resistance.
Check whether the metal mesh of the air filter is damaged, whether the gaskets are sealed properly, or if there is a high level of dust in the surrounding environment; the dust content can be measured at the fan outlet.
A bag filter is installed at the inlet of the drying tower, and it performs well.
