I would like to ask: based on the blueprint, how should I prepare material lists to submit a procurement plan? I’m a beginner; please everyone help me! Thank you so much!
We use the designer’s detailed lists directly as quotas, employ those quotas to formulate procurement plans, or use the detailed lists themselves for procurement planning; some adjustments are needed
Calculate the quantities of all materials (steel plates, shaped steel, fasteners, etc.) based on the drawings, and summarize them by category.
Draw a diagram. Use a highlighter to make marks, marking one for each one; if you follow the specifications provided by the design institute, you’ll still have to rush to return the items after installation.
Generally, it’s about preparing a material list based on the design; I rarely go and look things up on my own.
Unfold all sheet metal parts, calculate their areas, and then sum them up to determine the total area. For bars, calculate the total length; for standard components, determine the total number of them.
If you believe that working based on the blueprint yields better preparation, and you don’t trust the schedules provided by the design institute, then I really admire you. I don’t know why LZ did this; it can be said to be quite inaccurate – it’s normal for things to be missed here and there. The blueprint probably doesn’t have that much space for you to make marks with a highlighter. But it also has to be done step by step; pay attention to the differences in materials and then categorize them accordingly. Put it in an Excel spreadsheet; you can also use the statistical functions at the end.
Now some design institutes use CADworx Plant to produce drawings; material statistics are automatically generated and categorized, ensuring accuracy. It is entirely possible to prepare a procurement plan based on such material lists.
:Q: Many of our steel structure design drawings don’t include material lists...... And some of the joint details are completely incorrect...... The design drawings are like traps, often leading us to make mistakes when creating detailed drawings or making us unsure about what to do; moreover, the information on material properties in those drawings doesn’t match the general structural specifications...... If something goes wrong, it’s all the designer’s fault for the errors in the detailed drawings – it’s really frustrating......
We used the drawings provided by the design institute and counted them one by one; they used Pdsoft, but the results were quite different from the actual values.
We usually provide a detailed list in conjunction with the drawings.....
