Sure. By modifying the cam surface, the reaction direction of the actuator can be changed, which in turn alters the valve’s open-on-air and close-on-air performance.
Of course, it’s possible – the smart locator just requires changing the parameters for the forward and reverse operation settings of the valve; it’s very convenient
It can only be said that electrical valve positioners can change the direction of action. The air-open and air-close operation of a control valve is determined by the actuator and the valve core structure, not by anything else.
The air-open/air-close mode of a control valve is determined by the valve’s own structure; it is not possible to change this mode using a valve positioner. The forward and reverse action of the positioner is determined by the control valve, and it cannot be chosen arbitrarily.
Whether a control valve operates in the open or closed position is determined based on the actual conditions at the site, with the aim of ensuring the safety of equipment and personnel; it is determined by the structure of the valve and cannot be changed. By adjusting the valve actuator, the positive and negative action of the actuator can be changed.
Traditional valve positioners can also change the forward and reverse action of the valve.
