It drove me crazy – I spent ages trying to understand it, and only after looking at the original English version did I realize that the Chinese translation of the \"Aspen Plus 10.0 User Model\" contained serious translation errors. For example, in Chapter 11, regarding the user-defined programs and the descriptions of variables, \"Dimension\" should not be translated as \"dimension\", but rather refers to the size of an array; if it’s a multi-dimensional array, this is specified separately, with one dimension being the default. For example, if IDS is a two-dimensional array, the original value in the Dimension field is 2,4, while in the Chinese translation it is 2; perhaps the translator omitted 4 on purpose to align with their own understanding of Dimension. I’m so frustrated, so I’m sharing this with everyone. I’d also appreciate it if you could correct me if what I said is incorrect.
It’s a bit nitpicky; a translator can’t know everything. Regarding an array, \"dimension\" indeed refers to the number of dimensions of the array; for example, in the case of the two-dimensional data structure IDS you mentioned, its dimension is 2. When referring to the size of an array, \"size\" is generally used, that is, size(IDS) = [2, 4]
If the translation is full of errors, then he is not a competent translator; if his skills are not sufficient, it’s better not to translate. It’s fine to do it for one’s own enjoyment. This post was last edited by lsrwan on 2009-3-30 20:53]
Poor translation can be harmful; if one’s skills aren’t good enough, it’s better not to produce such translations. It’s sufficient to just read them oneself. It’s still best to read the original text in English
Could the original poster share the English version of the Aspen Plus 10.0 user model? Email: zhangyjhn@163.com
You must read the English version; relying on translations will only result in falling behind and suffering losses
Yeah, Chinese is completely confusing to me. Do you have the original version? If it’s convenient, could you share it? I’d like to learn from it. Thanks!
I’ve received it. Could you send me a copy? 625808336@qq.com. Thanks!
