In highly corrosive environments, fluoroplastics are essentially the only option that can be used. Pure tetrafluoro O-rings are good, but their compression amount is very small; at low temperatures of -40 degrees, the linear coefficient of F4 differs from that of 316L, which can lead to leaks. FEP-coated silicone rubber has a high degree of compression, but its service life is limited, and it tends to become brittle at the joints. Self-releasing O-rings do not have these two problems, but they are prone to leakage during low-pressure (1 Bar) testing; although the pressure is usually higher when in use, certification requirements specify testing at 1 Bar. Other methods are welcome for discussion.

Generally, EPDM gaskets are suitable when the pressure is low and corrosion is minimal; when the pressure is high, there is a risk of leakage from the medium, in which case flexible graphite gaskets can be used； Under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions in the chemical industry, it is necessary to use metal gaskets (such as Monel or corrugated gaskets) not only for the gaskets themselves, but also to opt for male-female or tenon-socket flanges in order to increase the pressure rating between the flanges.
