At present, methanol products are mainly sold by the producing companies themselves, with no fixed or specialized distributors. As these companies operate independently and are not professional sales firms, they lack knowledge and expertise regarding international markets; as a result, their market analysis and decision-making rely almost entirely on the domestic market or on inaccurate reports. A sharp increase in production scale does not guarantee that manufacturers will have control over the methanol market. In times of economic downturn, competitive pricing among companies often leads to chaos. To maintain control over product sales, methanol manufacturers need to have long-term partnerships with distributors as well as a smooth and efficient global sales network, thereby gaining some degree of control over the methanol market. Therefore, methanol producers can form specialized storage, transportation, and sales companies together, or join chemical product exchanges to take advantage of their sales channels in order to sell methanol products produced by their own shareholders as well as those from other companies, thereby gaining control over the sales process.
